Alpha is an opportunity to explore life, faith, love, eternity, purpose and God in a friendly, open and informal environment. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions to explore those questions with food, a talk and open discussion.
Southwest Community Church partners with Terwillegar Community Church in running Alpha.
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Run over eleven weeks, each session looks at a different question that people can have about faith and is designed to create conversation. It’s just an open, informal and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.
What does an Alpha night look like?
Alpha at Terwillegar Community Church runs on a weeknight at the church building and follows this schedule:
6:15 - 6:30 pm Arrive
6:30 - 7:15 pm Shared Meal
7:15 - 7:45 pm Alpha Talk - 20ish minute video
7:45 - 8:30 pm Small group discussion
Each week we share a meal together, then while we're eating dessert and sipping coffee (or tea if you prefer), we watch a 20ish minute video about the Christian faith. It might be about "Who is Jesus?", or "Why and How do I Pray?", each week is a new topic related to the Christian faith. The video then provides the content which will be discussed in the group.
Alpha is a relaxed atmosphere, and is designed to be a time of open conversation. The hope is that everyone comes with questions, and that each one can listen to and learn from one another.
Not sure if this is for you?
Come check out Alpha within the first few weeks of the Alpha course. At the very least you'll leave with a full stomach, at the most, you'll have started the beginning of something new. There is no pressure to stay for the full course.
